God Can Use Anyone

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, no matter how hard you've been knocked down, beat-down and trotted in you life, believe you me, God can use you. Yes indeed He can. Do me a favor and just fill in the blanks (Rhetorically).

How many times in your life do you say to yourself "God can't use me because I'm not _____________ enough, I'm too _________________, I've done too many _______________".? Do you realize that God can use anyone for His glory?

God has always worked through human vessels. In fact, most of the time, God works through the most unlikely vessels! Trust me, God Surely Can Use Anyone. Take a peak at the following people God used and how they were actually as fragile and broken as some of us were or still are.

Moses stuttered.
David's armour didn't fit.
John Mark was rejected by Paul.
Timothy had ulcers.
Amos' only training was in the school of fig-tree pruning.
Jacob was a liar.
David had an affair.
Solomon was too rich.
Abraham was too old.
David was too young.
Peter was afraid of death.
Lazarus was dead.
John was self-righteous.
Naomi was a widow.
Paul was a murderer.
So was Moses.
Jonah ran from God.
Miriam was a gossip.
Gideon and Thomas both doubted.
Jeremiah was a bullfrog;
Just kidding -- he was depressed and suicidal.
Elijah was burned out.
Martha was a worry-wart.
Mary may have been lazy.
Samson had long hair.
Noah got drunk, and that's not all.
Did I mention that Moses had a short fuse?
But God doesn't require a job interview.
He doesn't hire and fire like most bosses,
because He's more our Dad than our Boss.
He doesn't look at financial gain or loss.
He's not prejudiced or partial, not judging, grudging,
sassy, or brassy, not deaf to our cry, not blind to our need.

A Christian minister once said, "I was never of any use until I found out that God did not intend me to be a great man."

Prayer for My Friends

You have created us to live in community, O God of love; bless my friends who provide me with the grace and love of an extended family. Endow them with the riches of Your blessings: good health, sight, and mobility, that they may enjoy the wonders of Your creation and share their delight with others. Bless them with keen minds and compassionate hearts that they may create a better life for all. Guard them from injustice, oppression, and evil that they may know freedom and hope lifelong. In their waking and in their sleeping, in their laughter and in their tears, surround them with Your love until the end of their days; and so bring them to eternal life in peace. Through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.

SELFISHNESS

Now, let's have a question and answer period. I'll ask the questions. Feel free to answer out loud or in your heart.

1. Isn’t time I grow up and get over myself?

2. Does my petty, picky, little hurts or slights really have any bearing on eternity?

3. Where/how can I be of service to someone with no hope of recognition or reward?

4. What if nobody sees the good I'm doing?

5. How can I put others first and me second, thereby glorifying God with my actions?

6. What am I going to do nice for that person at work that I cannot stand?

7. How I can be tolerant of others that I deem less than me?

8. Do I really believe that everyone in the world is better than me at something?

9. Will it please God if I don't stand my ground on this stupid issue that doesn't matter anyway?

10. How can I glorify God daily by surrendering my full self to him and his will for me even if that includes doing things for others that I don't want to do?

There are about 500 more questions I could ask. But you get the point. Godly relationships begin in your heart where Jesus lives. You will automatically have Godly relationships if you keep God's command first and foremost in your heart: Love God first, others second and yourself last. This is very hard to do and can't be done unless we are walking with the Lord. And you are trying to change a lifetime of conditioned responses to certain stimuli. But next time you get the opportunity, give up your pride, your desires, your hopes, your dreams, and defer to the one you are engaged with, no matter what the cost. See what happens. You may find out how rewarding and freeing it can be. Keep God in your relationships and they will be Godly!

Tomorrow Is Not Promised

Sometimes people come into your life
and you know right away that they were meant to be there,
they serve some sort of purpose,
teach you a lesson
or help figure out who you are
and who you want to become.

You never know who these people may be:
your neighbor, child, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger
who, when you lock eyes with them,
you know at that very moment that they will affect your life
in some profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you
and at the time they seem painful and unfair,
but in reflection you realize
that without overcoming those obstacles
you would have never realized
your potential strength, will power, or heart.

Everything happens for a reason.
Nothing happens by chance
or by means of good or bad luck.
Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity
all occur to test the limits of your soul.

Without these small tests,
whether they be events, illnesses or relationships,
life would be like a smoothly paved straight flat road to nowhere,
safe and comfortable,
but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet who affect your life
and the successes and downfalls you experience
create who you are,
and even the bad experiences can be learned from,
In fact, they are probably the poignant and important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart,
forgive them,
for they have helped you learn about trust
and the importance of being cautious to
whom you open your heart...

If someone loves you,
love them back unconditionally,
not only because they love you,
but because they are teaching you to love
and opening your heart and eyes to things
you would have never seen or felt without them.

Make every day count.
Appreciate every moment
and take from it everything that you possibly can,
for you may never be able to experience it again...

Talk to people you have never talked to before,
and actually listen,
let yourself fall in love,
break free and set your sights high...

Hold your head up
because you have every right too.
Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself...
for if you don't believe in yourself,
no one else will believe in you either.
You can make of your life anything you wish.

Create your own life
and then go out and live in it!
"Live Each Day As If It Were Your Last...
Tomorrow is Not Promised"

Thank you kindly, my dear brother Jonathan F. Choyce III, for such a word.

God Has Kept Me Here For A Reason

My dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Please repeat after me:

God has kept me here for a reason.

I survived because He has a plan for me.

All my bad relationships,

The addictions,

The consequences,

The bad credit,

The repossessions,

The death of my loved ones,

The back stabbing from my friends,

The negative thoughts, or the lack of support;

I made it because I am blessed!

I release and let go of all past hurts, misunderstandings and grudges because I am abundantly blessed!

I recognize them as the illusions they are, and sent from the enemy to kill my spirit, steal my joy, and destroy my faith; For God is all there is. All else is a lie!

My dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I know that we may not all relate to everything, but we all know about past hurts, trials, and diversionary tactics the enemy will employ. Someone needed this message, so I pray it blesses you as well!

Now give yourself a hug, wipe your tears away and walk in victory!!!!!!!!

I love you, but more appropriately God loves you BEST! Be blessed and know that you are at one with THE SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD! And may the Lord keep watch over you and me. Genesis 31:49. Amen!

Now since you are a true child of God, you know that with every blessing, a blessing is required! So be a blessing to someone today.

I Am "Kept"

You see, there were a few times when I thought I would lose my mind
But GOD kept me sane

There were times when I thought I could go no longer
But the LORD kept me moving

At times, I've wanted to lash out at those whom I felt had done me wrong
But the LORD kept my mouth shut

Sometimes, I think the money just isn't enough, but GOD has helped me to keep the lights on, the water on, the car paid, the house paid, etc...

When I thought I would fall, HE kept me up

When I thought I was weak, HE kept me strong!

I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you hear me!
I'm blessed to be "kept."

Today I went into a prison

Today I went into a prison
Where I looked on anguish and strife
But the message I learned from a convict there
I'll remember the rest of my life.
The prisoner said he was contented
In paying society's due.
"It's easy to render to Caesar", he said,
"When you have the Master with you".
Oh, I've seen his anger fly out of hand
For he was just human you see
Than ask both offended and God to forgive
Unashamed when bending his knee.
Many long years it has been
Since I had the faith that this convict has shown
And though I was with him for only a while
His message has pointed me home.
Yes, today I went into a prison
And saw to my disbelief
The face of our Savior Lord Jesus
Worn on the face of a thief.

After a While

After a while you learn
The subtle difference between
Holding a hand and chaining a soul
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't always mean security.

And you begin to learn
That kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes ahead
With the grace of a woman
Not the grief of a child

And you learn
To build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is
Too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way
Of falling down in mid flight

After a while you learn
That even sunshine burns if you get too much
So you plant your own garden
And decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting
For someone to bring you flowers

And you learn
That you really can endure
That you are really strong
And you really do have worth
And you learn and you learn
With every good bye you learn.

About Me

My photo
I'm just, a nobody, trying to tell everybody, about Somebody who can save anybody. First I want to give love to the Father for giving me the opportunity to be an instrument for him to live in and live through for the glory that belongs to only him and Him alone. I served in the United States Navy for twenty one years and retired September 2003. During the last 3 years of my naval career, I served as co-pastor of Greater New Refuge COGIC in Fallon, Nevada under the tutelage of Pastor Gregory L. Brown. While there, I diligently served my pastor and church with the construction of a new sanctuary, and caring for the needs of all ministries, while simultaneously striving to stay focused on the mandate that the Lord had placed upon my life to preach the Word of God without compromise. I was licensed to preach November 2002 and Ordained June 2003. While stationed in Virginia Beach, Virginia, I proudly served and as constituent of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for seventeen years under the leadership of Bishop Elect W. D. Scott, Sr. and presently serve under the leadership of Bishop B. Courtney McBath at Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, Virginia.

MY THEOLOGICAL TRAINING:

It brings to my face a unadulterated smile each and every occasion I am asked, “Elder Dre, What Theological Training do you have?”

My heart beams with joy at the opportunity to humbly give full glory to God as I reflect on on how the prophets, patriarchs and apostles of old would have respond: Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joshua, Gideon, King David, Elijah, Elisha, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, Matthew, Mark, Peter, James, John and the other disciples, not forgetting the Saviour Himself.

How would they have answered the question: “What theological training do you have?”

The words of the prophet Amos also came to mind: “Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:” Amos 7:14

I surely am not impliedly decrying theological preparation, education or training: I consider it essential, but not as much as some think. For the fact is, the Almighty raises up believers according to His own standards.

Educational qualifications, wealth, fame, talent, social standing, outward appearance etc. are useful; but they are secondary in His sight. Qualities like faith, obedience, holiness, humility, honesty, absolute loyalty to one’s spouse, the ability to raise one’s family to fear God and keep His commandments etc.; these are the things the Most High values.

“Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”

Only on the Day of Judgment will it be known how truly educated, weighty and effective I have been. That is why I have to smile when the question arise.

The vanity of the question is only matched by the foolishness of my answer.

As the wise man wrote: “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher; all is vanity.” Ecclesiastes 1: 2 or as the apostle Paul commented in 2 Corinthians 11:16-30 when rattling off a long list of impressive qualifications “... I speak as a fool.”

Furthermore, we have seen with our own eyes and now testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. All who proclaim that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. 1 John 4:14-15 (NLT)

I am a preacher, but most of all, I proclaim that Jesus is the Savior with various applications of that truth in my everyday life. My dear friend, if you are a Christian, you are a preacher also. Whether you have been ordained or not, hired by a church or not, or ever been recognized as a preacher or not is beside the point. All who have God living in them are called to proclaim the Savior to the world. It is a Holy calling, and a demanding one. It will pull you out of your comfort zone, challenge your commitment, and help to develop you into the person God has created you to be.

John spoke as an eyewitness to Jesus' saving power. We speak as heart-witnesses; ones who have not seen Jesus with our eyes, but have experienced Him through personal transformation. I speak, and you speak, as a representative of Christ on earth. The message that we bring is simple, yet profound; that God the Father sent God the Son into the world to save those who are lost to bring them into relationship with Him. As you tell the story, and I tell the story, some will listen and receive the grace that God has sent us into the world to proclaim.

PRAYER THOUGHT: Father, what a privilege to be a spokesperson for You.

Thank you for stopping by. Stay encouraged and please do come back.
