Our Greatest Need

If our greatest need had been information,
God would have sent us an educator.

If our greatest need had been technology,
God would have sent us a scientist.

If our greatest need had been money,
God would have sent us an economist.

If our greatest need had been pleasure,
God would have sent us an entertainer.

But our greatest need was forgiveness.
so God sent us a Savior!

Thank you Pastor Charles R. Swindoll, your work shall live on.

FIVE FINGER PRAYER

1. Your thumb is nearest to you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, nurses, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger, It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this our our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray to much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger; the smallest finger of all. Which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

Be Encouraged, God is in control.

He sees the hustle and bustle that life is now presenting to you.

But take courage!

God is in control.

God has a specific plan and purpose for our lives.

Like a Maestro, He carefully orchestrates the symphony and harmony of our lives.

Like a Conductor, He keeps us on the steady path (on track) to righteousness.
Our steps are ordered and ordained by God.

Like a Goldsmith, our God watches over us to take the dross out of our life that we may be like refined gold.

Our God knows the right temperature to bring us to perfection.

Things may appear out of sync or out of sorts now, but our God is working on our situations, our conditions, our circumstances.

Take courage.

Seek to do the will of God ordained for your life.
Walk in the pathways God has ordained for you.
Be steadfast and unmovable.

Don’t doubt God.

Just because the situation is not going the way you want, be still, listen to the divine, still voice of God leading you into plainer paths, then obey God.

Our God is the Way.
Our God is the Source.
Our God Reigns!

Many hearts are broken, but God will mend them.
Many spirits are low, but God will lift you up.

God sees you looking unto the hills from whence cometh your help knowing your help cometh from the Lord.
God sees the melody and praise you have in your heart towards Him. God sees the praise that He wants to inhabit.

You want to praise God, but your focus is on your problem.

"Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. "

Those things, circumstances, situations that the enemy brings before us is designed to take our focus off of the true and the living God.

The enemy wants us to focus on the problem, not the solution.

Allow God to illuminate your paths with His glory.
Allow God to prune you to perfection.
Allow God to minister to your point of need.

We are like diamonds in the rough.
We shall shine forth.
We shall shine bright for God is working it all together for our good and for His glory according to His purpose.

We have not become what we shall be!

In CHRIST we have…

A LOVE that can never be fathomed;
A LIFE that can never die;
A RIGHTEOUSNESS that can never be tarnished;
A PEACE that can never be understood;
A REST that can never be disturbed;
A JOY that can never be diminished;
A HOPE that can never be disappointed;
A GLORY that can never be clouded;
A HAPPINESS that can never be interrupted;
A LIGHT that can never be darkened;
A STRENGTH that can never be enfeebled;
A BEAUTY that can never be marred;
A PURITY that can never be defiled;
A WISDOM that can never be baffled;
RESOURCES that can never be exhausted.

THAT’S WHAT IT MEANS!

Standing for what you believe in, Regardless of the odds against you,And the pressure that tears at your resistance,

...Means Courage

Keeping a Smile on your face,When inside you feel like Dying,For the sake of Supporting others,

...Means Strength

Stopping at nothing,And doing what's in your Heart,You know is Right,

...Means Determination

Doing more than is Expected,To make another's Life a little more Bearable,Without uttering a single Complaint,

...Means Compassion

Helping a Friend in Need,No matter the time or effort,To the best of your ability,

...Means Loyalty

Giving more than you have,And expecting NothingBut nothing in Return,

...Means Selflessness

Holding your head high,And being the best you know you can beWhen life seems to fall apart at your feet,Facing each difficulty with the ConfidenceThat time will bring you better Tomorrow's,And Never Giving Up,

...Means Confidence.

THE QUESTION IS...

The important question is, "Have you come to Christ?"

It is not to which church you belong, but if you belong to Christ.

It is not if we believe in a church, but if we believe in Christ.

It is not if we go to church, but have we come to Christ.

It is not if we have bowed at some altar, but have we bowed at the feet of and confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and King.

It is not making some profession of religion, but if we have professed Christ to be our Lord and Saviour.

He said, All that the Father giveth me shall come to Me.
He does not say you will be religious, He does not say you will be good folks,
He does not say you will be Bible readers, hymn singers, hand clappers, or loud and long prayers, but that, You will come to Christ.

We know that, but how quickly we forget it.

TEN PROMISES

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, your afflictions in this world may be many, heavy, and long, but they will never destroy, or even harm you. Therefore the Lord your God says, "Fear Not." In accordance with Isaiah 43:1-7, He gives you these ten, blessed promises to silence your fears.

1. "I have redeemed thee!" Christ has redeemed you by the price of His blood and the power of His Grace. If He has redeemed you, nothing and no one can harm you.

2. "I have called thee by thy name!" All whom He has redeemed are called, called with an effectual, irresistible, personal call. This is efficacious Grace!

3. "Thou art mine!" What a blessed word of Grace! You belong to God as His peculiar possession, His new creation. That means you are under His protection and provision.

4. "I will be with thee!" Wherever God by His providence puts you, He will be with you in sympathy and in power to take care of you.

5. "I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel!"
The Almighty God, the Holy One, who is always faithfial and true, is as much your property as you are His property, because He has given Himself to you.

6. "I am thy Saviour!" When He says, "I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee," our Lord is saying, I have bought you at such a price that I cannot afford to lose you."

7. "Thou art Precious in my sight!" You are God's treasure, His jewel. Though despised by men, if you are a believer, you are precious to God!

8. "Thou hast been honorable?" You are not honorable by nature, nor by any of your deeds, but God by His Grace has made you honorable. He has washed away your sin by the blood of Christ and robed you with His perfect righteousness.

9. "I have loved thee!" Let men talk all they please about a useless, universal love, this is special love! God so loves His own elect that He will sacrifice men and nations for them!

10. "I have created (you) for my Glory!" The very Glory of the triune God is wrapped up in the Salvation of His people. He will either save everyone of the chosen seed, all who are called by His name, and save them from all evil, or He will lose His Glory; and that cannot be!

Thank you for the word Pastor Don Fortner of Grace Baptist ChurchDanville, Ky.

About Me

My photo
I'm just, a nobody, trying to tell everybody, about Somebody who can save anybody. First I want to give love to the Father for giving me the opportunity to be an instrument for him to live in and live through for the glory that belongs to only him and Him alone. I served in the United States Navy for twenty one years and retired September 2003. During the last 3 years of my naval career, I served as co-pastor of Greater New Refuge COGIC in Fallon, Nevada under the tutelage of Pastor Gregory L. Brown. While there, I diligently served my pastor and church with the construction of a new sanctuary, and caring for the needs of all ministries, while simultaneously striving to stay focused on the mandate that the Lord had placed upon my life to preach the Word of God without compromise. I was licensed to preach November 2002 and Ordained June 2003. While stationed in Virginia Beach, Virginia, I proudly served and as constituent of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for seventeen years under the leadership of Bishop Elect W. D. Scott, Sr. and presently serve under the leadership of Bishop B. Courtney McBath at Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, Virginia.

MY THEOLOGICAL TRAINING:

It brings to my face a unadulterated smile each and every occasion I am asked, “Elder Dre, What Theological Training do you have?”

My heart beams with joy at the opportunity to humbly give full glory to God as I reflect on on how the prophets, patriarchs and apostles of old would have respond: Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joshua, Gideon, King David, Elijah, Elisha, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, Matthew, Mark, Peter, James, John and the other disciples, not forgetting the Saviour Himself.

How would they have answered the question: “What theological training do you have?”

The words of the prophet Amos also came to mind: “Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:” Amos 7:14

I surely am not impliedly decrying theological preparation, education or training: I consider it essential, but not as much as some think. For the fact is, the Almighty raises up believers according to His own standards.

Educational qualifications, wealth, fame, talent, social standing, outward appearance etc. are useful; but they are secondary in His sight. Qualities like faith, obedience, holiness, humility, honesty, absolute loyalty to one’s spouse, the ability to raise one’s family to fear God and keep His commandments etc.; these are the things the Most High values.

“Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”

Only on the Day of Judgment will it be known how truly educated, weighty and effective I have been. That is why I have to smile when the question arise.

The vanity of the question is only matched by the foolishness of my answer.

As the wise man wrote: “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher; all is vanity.” Ecclesiastes 1: 2 or as the apostle Paul commented in 2 Corinthians 11:16-30 when rattling off a long list of impressive qualifications “... I speak as a fool.”

Furthermore, we have seen with our own eyes and now testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. All who proclaim that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. 1 John 4:14-15 (NLT)

I am a preacher, but most of all, I proclaim that Jesus is the Savior with various applications of that truth in my everyday life. My dear friend, if you are a Christian, you are a preacher also. Whether you have been ordained or not, hired by a church or not, or ever been recognized as a preacher or not is beside the point. All who have God living in them are called to proclaim the Savior to the world. It is a Holy calling, and a demanding one. It will pull you out of your comfort zone, challenge your commitment, and help to develop you into the person God has created you to be.

John spoke as an eyewitness to Jesus' saving power. We speak as heart-witnesses; ones who have not seen Jesus with our eyes, but have experienced Him through personal transformation. I speak, and you speak, as a representative of Christ on earth. The message that we bring is simple, yet profound; that God the Father sent God the Son into the world to save those who are lost to bring them into relationship with Him. As you tell the story, and I tell the story, some will listen and receive the grace that God has sent us into the world to proclaim.

PRAYER THOUGHT: Father, what a privilege to be a spokesperson for You.

Thank you for stopping by. Stay encouraged and please do come back.
