America has once again shown its true colors by electing a known racist and convicted felon to the highest office in the land. Donald Trump's victory reveals the deep-seated white supremacy that still plagues this nation.
Trump's long history of racist rhetoric and actions speaks volumes. He kicked off his political career by pushing the racist "birther" conspiracy against Barack Obama. He's repeatedly demonized immigrants, calling them "animals" and "stone cold killers." At his rallies, he spews vile xenophobic rhetoric, claiming migrants are ruining the "fabric" of the country.
Let's not forget how Trump refused to condemn white supremacists after Charlottesville, instead saying there were "very fine people on both sides." Or how he told congresswomen of color to "go back" to where they came from. The man even retweeted white genocide hashtags numerous times.
His rallies have often been a cesspool of racist and vulgar comments, with speakers making derogatory remarks about Latino and Black communities. One "comedian" even joked about dressing as a "car watermelon" with his Black friend.
For all those who voted for him, whether Black, White, or Hispanic, we can now see who you truly are. Supporting a leader with such a divisive and harmful track record speaks volumes about one's values and priorities. Trump's re-election proves that racism is alive and well in America. He's emboldened racists to come out of the woodwork and show their true colors. This country has a long way to go to address its deep-rooted issues with white supremacy and racial injustice.
