BIBLICAL RHETORIC VS BIBLICAL TRUTH
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I've always believed that the sounding brass and the tinkling cymbals of biblical rhetoric feed our senses while biblical truth feeds our spirit. Eventually the choir, the charismatic preacher, the crowd, and the sweet sound of those who speak with the tongues of men and of angels will feed those who are satisfied with just milk for the moment, while the Rhema Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever feeds with the meat that would satisfy for a lifetime. In other words, they came to feed and needed no music. I say, let the preacher give his people food, and they will flock around him, even if the sounding brass of rhetoric and the tinkling cymbals of oratory are silent. No human explanation or interpretation of God’s Word should be elevated to the same authority as the text itself. The choir, the charismatic preacher, the crowd, and the sweet sound of those who speak with the tongues of men and of angels can never truly give us faith as you and I know, without faith it is impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6) and faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). Therefore we must realize that there surely is a difference between biblical rhetoric and biblical truth.
