12 Steps

I took one Step... began to moan
I can't do this on my own.
I took two Steps... began to pray,
God, please restore me today.

I took three Steps... gave up my will;
Maybe God loves me still.
I took a Fourth... I looked inside,
Nothing more would I hide.

And on the Fifth... I said aloud,"
I've done some wrong, and I'm not proud."
I took six Steps... and got prepared
To lose the defects... I was scared.

Now I'm at Seven... take them away
Today, Dear God, for this I pray.
And on Eight... the list was long,
Amends to make for all the wrong.

I took nine Steps.. put down my pride;
Forgiveness asked, I will not hide.
Ten Steps I take... each day I pray...
I make amends along the way.

And on Eleven... I prayed to know
His Will each day, which way to go.
I took twelve Steps... I'm like a bird
To others now, I spread the word!

TEN WAYS TO HAVE A BLESSED DAY

TODAY I will not strike back. . . If someone is rude, if someone is impatient, if someone is unkind, I will not respond in a like manner.

TODAY I will ask God to bless my 'enemy'. . If I come across someone who treats me harshly or unfairly, I will quietly ask God to bless that individual. I understand "enemy" could be a family member, neighbor, co-worker or stranger.

TODAY I will be careful about what I say. . . I will carefully choose and guard my words being certain that I do not spread gossip.

TODAY I will go the extra mile. . . I will find ways to help share the burden of another person.

TODAY I will forgive. . . I will forgive any hurts or injuries that come my way.

TODAY I will do something kind for someone, (But I will do it in secret. . . ) I will reach out anonymously and bless the life of another.

TODAY I will treat others the way I wish to be treated. . I will practice the golden rule. "Do Unto others as I would have them do unto me"- with EVERYONE I encounter.

TODAY I will raise the spirits of some who is discouraged. . My smile, my words, my expression of support, can make the difference to someone who is wrestling with life.

TODAY I will nurture by body . . . I will eat less . . . I will eat only healthy foods. I will thank God for my body.

TODAY I will grow Spiritually. . . I will spend a little more time in prayer today. I will begin reading something spiritual or inspirational; I will find a quiet place (at some point during this day) and listen to God's voice.

The Difference Between Rich/Poor People?

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
"It was great, Dad."

"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.
"Oh yeah," said the son.

"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.
The son answered: "I saw that we have one dog and they had four.

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.

We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.

We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.

We buy our food, but they grow theirs.

We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."

The boy's father was speechless. Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."

Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.

Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends!

Life is too short and friends are too few.

THANK YOU

When someone gives you a gift, do you say, "That’s very nice, now how much do I owe you?" No, the appropriate response to a gift is "Thank you." Yet how often Christians, even after they have been given the gift of salvation, feel obligated to try to work their way to God. Because our salvation and even our faith are gifts, we should respond with gratitude, praise, and joy.

Dear GOD: I want to thank You for what you have already done.

I am not going to wait until I see results or receive rewards;
I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until I feel better or things look better;
I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until people say they are sorry or until they stop talking about me;
I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until the pain in my body disappears ;
I am thanking you right now

I am not going to wait until my financial situation improves;
I am going to thank you right now.

I am not going to wait until the children are asleep and the house is quiet;
I am going to thank you right now.

I am not going to wait until I get promoted at work or until I get the job;
I am going to thank you right now.

I am not going to wait until I understand every experience in my life that has caused me pain or grief; I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until the journey gets easier or the challenges are
removed; I am thanking you right now.

I am thanking you because I am alive.

I am thanking you because I made it through the day's difficulties.

I am thanking you because I have walked around the obstacles.

I am thanking you because I have the ability and the opportunity to do more and do better.

I'm thanking you because FATHER, YOU haven't given up on me.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, when you know that "it's already done," what's left but to thank Him; just for being God, all by Himself.

For God so loved the world...

For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

The entire gospel comes to a focus in this verse. God’s love is not static or self-centered; it reaches out and draws others in. Here God sets the pattern of true love, the basis for all love relationships—when you love someone dearly, you are willing to give freely to the point of self-sacrifice. God paid dearly with the life of his Son, the highest price he could pay. Jesus accepted our punishment, paid the price for our sins, and then offered us the new life that he had bought for us. When we share the gospel with others, our love must be like Jesus’—willingly giving up our own comfort and security so that others might join us in receiving God’s love.


In John 3:16 we find that God offers:
The Greatest Love............"For God so loved the world,"
The Greatest Gift............."that he gave His only begotten Son,"
The Greatest Invitation...."that whosoever"
The Greatest Faith..........."Believeth in Him"
The Greatest Pardon........"should not perish"
The Greatest Promise......"but have everlasting life."

God So loved us that He gave His only begotten Son to be a sacrifice for Our sins.

Jesus was born that I might be born twice.
He became poor, that I might possess wealth.
He became homeless, that I might have a mansion.
He was stripped that I might have clothes.
HE was forsaken, that I should have friends.
He was bound that I might have perfect liberty.
He was sad, that I might have joy.
He descended, that I should be lifted up.
He became a servant, that I might be a son forever.
He was hungry, that I should always have food.
He was made sin, that I should share His Righteousness.
He died, so that I should have eternal life.
HE will come down again, so that I might go up.

All of this...that He might display in me the riches of
His Goodness and His Grace...
His Tender Mercy and His loving kindness...
His never ending forgiveness ....
His Patience and His Longsuffering...
His Compassion... and His Care
His Rest and His Peace

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
Gave His lovely body to a curse tree
Gave His lovely head a thorny crown
Gave His lovely hands and feet to some rusty nails
Gave His lovely back to a splintery Cross

But 3 days later on the first day of the week...
Three days after they cursed Him...
Three days after they spit in His lovely face
Three days after they beat Him senseless...
Three days after they gambled for His clothes
Three days after they hung Him between two thieves....

He got up with all power in Heaven and earth in His Lovely hands. that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

According to God’s Word:

My Attorney

But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; [13] So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; [14] And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. Philippians 1:12-14 (KJV)

One of the reasons I’m passionate about the prison ministry and have been since I retired from the military. Those brothers and sisters look forward to us as if we’re the only family they have because in some cases, we are.

I understand wholeheartedly that being imprisoned would cause many people to become bitter or to give up. God’s word reveals to us how Paul saw it as one more opportunity to spread the Good News of Christ. Paul realized that his current circumstances weren’t as important as what he did with them. Turning a bad situation into a good one, he reached out to the Roman soldiers who made up the palace guard and encouraged those Christians who were afraid of persecution.

As a matter of fact many of us from the mental prisons we’ve taken residence in. We may not be in a physical prison, but we still have plenty of opportunities to be discouraged…times of indecision, financial burdens, family conflict, church conflict, or the loss of our jobs. How we act in such situations will reflect what we believe. Like Paul we must look for ways to demonstrate our faith even in bad situations. Whether or not the situation improves, our faith will grow stronger.

Trust me; we will all get our day in court. As a child of the most high, here’s how I picture my day in court.

After living what I felt was a “decent” life, my time on earth came to the end. The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I thought to be a court house. The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and have a seat by the defense table.

As I looked around I saw the “prosecutor.” He was a villainous looking gent who snarled as he stared at me. He definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen. I sat down and looked to my left and there sat my Attorney, a kind and gentle looking man whose appearance seemed so familiar to me, I felt I knew Him.

The corner door flew open and there appeared the Judge in full flowing robes. He commanded an awesome presence as He moved across the room. I couldn’t take my eyes off of Him. As He took His seat behind the bench, He said, “Let us begin.”

The prosecutor rose and said, “My name is Satan and I am here to show you why this sinner belongs in hell.” He proceeded to tell of lies that I told, things that I stole, and in the past when I cheated others. Satan told of other horrible perversions that were once in my life and the more he spoke, the further down in my seat I sank.

I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t look at anyone, even my own Attorney, as the Devil told of sins that even I had completely forgotten about. As upset as I was at Satan for telling all these things about me, I was equally upset at My Attorney who sat there silently not offering any form of defense at all. I know I had been guilty of those things, but I had done some good in my life - couldn’t that at least equal out part of the harm I’d done?

Satan finished with a fury and said, “This sinner belongs in hell, and is guilty of all that I have charged and there is not a person who can prove otherwise.”

When it was His turn, My Attorney first asked if He might approach the bench. The Judge allowed this over the strong objection of Satan, and beckoned Him to come forward. As He got up and started walking, I was able to see Him in His full splendor and majesty. I realized why He seemed so familiar; this was Jesus representing me, my Lord and my Savior.

He stopped at the bench and softly said to the Judge, “Hi, Dad,” and then He turned to address the court. “Satan was correct in saying that this man had sinned, I won’t deny any of these allegations.. And, yes, the wage of sin is death, and this sinner deserves to be punished.” Jesus took a deep breath and turned to His Father with outstretched arms and proclaimed, “However, I died on the cross so that this person might have eternal life and he has accepted Me as his Savior, so he is Mine.”

My Lord continued with, “His name is written in the book of life and no one can snatch him from Me. Satan still does not understand yet. This man is not to be given justice, but rather mercy.”

As Jesus sat down, He quietly paused, looked at His Father and said, “There is nothing else that needs to be done. I’ve done it all.”

The Judge lifted His mighty hand and slammed the gavel down. The following words resounded from His lips… “This man is free. The penalty for him has already been paid in full. Case dismissed.”

As my Lord embraced me and led me away, I could hear Satan ranting and raving, “I won’t give up, and I will win the next one.”

I asked Jesus as He gave me my instructions where to go next, “Have you ever lost a case?” Christ lovingly smiled and said, “Everyone that has come to Me and asked Me to represent them has received the same verdict as you, “PAID IN FULL.”

Brothers and sisters in Christ, count your blessings, not your problems!

No matter your prison, God has the key.

WHERE GOD WANTS ME

One day I happened to call a man on business whom I didn't know, have not nor will probably ever talk to again. But this day, he felt like talking. He was head of security at a company that had invited the remaining members of a company who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their office space.

With his voice full of awe, he told me stories of why these people were alive and their counterparts were dead.

All the stories were just little things. You might know about the head of the company who got in late that day because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts. There were other stories that I hope and pray will someday be gathered and put in a book. The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning. He took the various means to get to work, but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone ... all the little things that annoy me ... I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment. May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things.

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I was thinking of you all and felt a strong desire in my heart to share these testimonies in hopes that you’d agree with me when I say, “What a mighty God we serve. In all that we do, we should totally give HIM thanks and our blessings will continue to multiply.

THAT'S GOD

Have you ever been just sitting there and all of a sudden you feel like doing something nice for someone you care for?

THAT'S GOD! He speaks to you through the Holy Spirit.

Have you ever been down and out and nobody seems to be around for you to talk to?

THAT'S GOD! He wants you to speak to Him.

Have you ever been thinking about somebody that you haven't seen in a long time and then next thing you know you see them or receive a phone call from them?

THAT'S GOD! There's no such thing as coincidence.

Have you ever received something wonderful that you didn't even ask for, like money in the mail, a debt that had mysteriously been cleared, or a coupon to a department store where you had just seen something you wanted, but couldn't afford.

THAT'S GOD. . He knows the desires of your heart. .

Have you ever been in a situation and you had no clue how it is going to get better, but now you look back on it?

THAT'S GOD! He passes us through tribulation to see a brighter day.

Don't tell GOD how Big your storm is.

Believe it or not…there are thousands of kids out there just like Jamie.

He shall judge the poor of the people; he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor. Psalm 72:4

EVOLUTION?

Maybe there IS something to this idea of evolution proposed by Charles Darwin.

Maybe people did descend from lower animals, because church people often seem stubborn as MULES about church work, sly as a FOX in their own business deals, busy as BEES in spreading the latest gossip, blind as a BAT to the needs of others, quiet as a MOUSE in spreading the Gospel, but have eyes like a HAWK to see a mote in their brother’s eye.

They are eager as a BEAVER about a bazaar and barbeque, but lazy as a HOUND DOG about prayer meeting.

They are mean as SNAKES when things don’t go their way, but gentle as a LAMB when they need the pastor’s help.

They are noisy as CROWS for the church to advance, but slow as SNAILS in visiting the unchurched.

Many are night OWLS on a Saturday night, but BED BUGS on Sunday morning, slippery as EELS on Sunday night and scarce as HEN’s teeth during a revival!

(Just a thought) !

Just how did God create the earth? This is still a subject of great debate. Some say that there was a sudden explosion, and the universe appeared. Others say God started the process, and the universe evolved over billions of years. Almost every ancient religion has its own story to explain how the earth came to be. And almost every scientist has an opinion on the origin of the universe. But only the Bible shows one supreme God creating the earth out of his great love and giving all people a special place in it. We will never know all the answers to how God created the earth, but the Bible tells us that God did create it. That fact alone gives worth and dignity to all people.

Through Christ

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Can we really do everything? The power we receive in union with Christ is sufficient to do his will and to face the challenges that arise from our commitment to doing it. He does not grant us superhuman ability to accomplish anything we can imagine without regard to his interests. As we contend for the faith we will face troubles, pressures, and trials. As they come, ask Christ to strengthen you.

The road to success is not straight.

There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family.

You will have flats called Jobs.

But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith,
a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success.

36 Stress Reducers for Christians

1. Pray

2. Go to bed on time.

3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.

4. Say No, to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.

5. Delegate tasks to capable others.

6. Simplify and unclutter your life.

7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)

8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.

9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.

10. Take one day at a time.

11. Separate worries from concerns. If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you to do and let go of the anxiety. If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.

12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.

13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.,

14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut.) This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.

15. Do something for the kid in you everyday.

16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.

17. Get enough exercise.

18. Eat right.

19. Get organized so everything has its place.

20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.

21. Write thoughts and inspirations down.

22. Everyday, find time to be alone.

23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until its time to go to bed to try and pray.

24. Make friends with Godly people.

25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.

26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a Good "Thank you Jesus!"

27. Laugh.

28. Laugh some more!

29. Take your work seriously, but yourself not at all.

30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).

31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).

32. Sit on your ego.

33. Talk less; listen more.

34. Slow down.

35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.

36. Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before.

It happened again. As the Israelites encountered danger, shortages, and inconvenience, they complained bitterly and longed to be back in Egypt. But as always, God provided for their needs. Difficult circumstances often lead to stress, and complaining is a natural response. The Israelites didn’t really want to be back in Egypt; they just wanted life to get a little easier. In the pressure of the moment, they could not focus on the cause of their stress (in this case, lack of trust in God); they could only think about the quickest way of escape. When pressure comes your way, resist the temptation to make a quick escape. Instead, focus on God’s power and wisdom to help you deal with the cause of your stress.

Religion -vs- Christ (What's The Difference?)

Religion and Christ are not mutually exclusive, but they are very distinct. James, a New Testament writer and brother of Christ, wrote, "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world" (James 1:27). Religion can be many good things, but it cannot be a substitute for Christ.

Religion is something to believe and do:

Attending religious services
Enrolling children in religious schools
Showing acts of kindness
Avoiding immorality
Believing in God
Having religious affiliation
Being baptized
Receiving communion
Studying doctrine
Reading the Scriptures
Offering prayers.
Celebrating religious events
Teaching religious classes
Giving aid to the poor
Singing in the choir
Being recognized as a godly person

Christ is Someone to know and trust:

Someone who is very near
Someone who has authority to help us
Someone who can forgive us
Someone who can declare us righteous
Someone who can set us apart for God

Father, because the desire of our hearts is to become all that You want us to be as people of prayer, I offer Jabez’s prayer for my own prayer life and for those You have placed on my heart as an intercessor, believing it will be in Your will to hear and answer such a prayer.

I ask that You bless us indeed--

exceedingly, abundantly beyond all that we can ask or imagine, that our lives and our prayers will be blessed to be a blessing in the lives of those we love and pray for.

Enlarge our territory--

increase the boundaries and extend the margins of our knowledge of prayer, our desire to pray, the time we spend in prayer, the number of people we pray for, our undertaking of what to ask, and the effectiveness of our prayers.

May Your hand be on us--

that every prayer will be inspired by Your Spirit, that we will be enabled to live the life that keeps us sensitive to His leading and allows You to hear and answer every request He leads us to make.

Keep us from harm, that we might serve you in full health and strength--

protect us from Satan and every evil spirit under his command in the name of Jesus and with the blood of the cross, demolishing every stronghold attempting to influence our heart, mind, emotions, or will against the knowledge of God.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, we are bombarded today with relentless appeals to go in various directions. Television advertising alone places hundreds of options before us, in addition to appeals made by political parties, cults, false religions, and dozens of other groups. Numerous organizations, including Christian organizations, seek to motivate us to support a cause. Add to that the dozens of decisions we must make concerning our job, our family, our money, our society, and we become desperate for someone to show us the right way. If you find yourself pulled in several directions, remember that God teaches the humble his way. So now that we know the directions to our Fathers house, lets make sure our love ones know the way to our fathers house...as a matter of fact, invite your enemies too.

REFLECTION

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,"

Brothers and sisters in Christ, 1 Timothy 5:8 says, But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Almost everyone has relatives, family of some kind. Family relationships are so important in God’s eyes, Paul says, that a person who neglects his or her family responsibilities has denied the faith. Are you doing your part to meet the needs of those included in your family circle?

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family - an unwise investment indeed.

I'M NOT GOING TO SUE

I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I don't agree with Darwin, but I didn't go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his theory of evolution.

Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game. So what's the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire book of Acts. They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game.

"But it's a Christian prayer," some will argue. Yes, and this is the United States of America, a country founded on Christian principles. According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1. So, what would you expect-somebody chanting Hare Krishna? If I went to a football game in Jerusalem, I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer. If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad, I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer. If I went to a ping pong match in China, I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha. And, I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit. When in Rome...

"But, what about the atheists?" is another argument. What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds. If that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer. Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations.

Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep. Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now, a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying. God, help us. And, if that last sentence offends you, well..........just sue me.

The silent majority has been silent too long. It's time we let that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard, that the vast majority don't care what they want. It is time the majority rules!

It's time we tell them, you don't have to pray. You don't have to say the pledge of allegiance, you don't have to believe in God or attend services that honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your right but, by golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away. We are fighting back. . .and we WILL WIN!

God bless us one and all, especially those who denounce Him... God bless America, despite all her faults, she is still the greatest nation of all...

God bless our service men who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship God!
May 2004 be the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions.

THE SPIRIT OF THE LORDS PRAYER

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11. Give us this day our daily bread. 12. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Matthew 6:9-13

Surely this is an overwhelming model prayer given to us by the lover of our souls, Jesus.

But you see…

you can't say “Our” if you only live for your self- because the word “Our” reflects an unselfish spirit with an unselfish attitude.

You can't say “Father” if you're not trying to act like His child- because “Father” denotes a family spirit.

You can't say “Who art in Heaven if you're not laying up no treasure there- because “Who art in Heaven” exposes trusting spirit.

You can't say “Hallowed be Thy Name” if you're not striving for holiness- because “Hallowed” indicates a reverent spirit.

You can't say “Thy Kingdom come” if you're not doing all can to usher in that event- because “Thy kingdom comes” expresses a loyal spirit.

You can't say “Thy will be done” if you're disobedient to God's Word- because “Thy will be done” articulates a submissive spirit.

You can't say “in earth as it is in Heaven” if you don't serve Him in the here and now- because “in earth as it is in Heaven” unveil a believing spirit.

You can't say “give us our daily bread” if you are dishonest or seeking gain by deception- because “give us” indicates a dependent spirit.

You can't say “forgive us our debts” if you harbor grudges against others- because “forgive us” reveals a penitent spirit.

You can't say “lead us not into temptation” if you deliberately place yourself in the path of sin- because “lead us” reflects a humble spirit.

You can't say “deliver us from evil” if you don't put on the whole armor of God- because “deliver us from evil” reveals a faithful spirit.

You can't say “Thine is the kingdom” if you don't give the King loyalty that is due to Him- because “Thine is the kingdom” reflects a triumphant spirit.

You can't attribute to Him “power” if you fear what men can do- because “power” is recognized by a confident spirit.

You can't ascribe to Him “glory” if you seek honor only for yourself- because “and the glory” unveils an exultant spirit.

You can't say “forever” if the horizon of your life is bounded completely by time- because “Forever” shows an eternal spirit.

You can’t say Amen if you don’t agree with God’s Word – because “Amen” reflects a cooperate spirit.

OUR GOD IS

This Thanksgiving I was wondering what to thank God for and realized that even if I had ten thousand tongues, I could not thank Him enough. The Bible says in 1 Chronicles 16:4 “And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, and to record, and to thank and praise the Lord God of Israel” You see, Certain Levites were selected to give constant praise and thanks to God. Praise and thanksgiving should be a normal part of our everyday lives, not held in reserve only for celebrations. Praise God continually, and you will find that you won’t take his blessings for granted. You see our God is not only good, He's more than good.

Too eternal to be an a transient
Too free to be bound
Too invincible to be conquered
Too sure to fail
Too truthful to lie
Too real to be a myth
Too exact to error--

Too all knowing to be a learner--

When thanksgiving becomes an integral part of your life, you will find that your attitude toward life will change. You will become more positive, gracious, loving, and humble.

ask the loving couple that is waiting to meet.

CHANGE

And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the Lord is righteous, and I and my people are wicked. Exodus 9:27

After promising to let the Hebrews go, Pharaoh immediately broke his promise and brought even more trouble upon the land. His actions reveal that his repentance was not real. We do damage to ourselves and to others if we pretend to change but don’t mean it.

We all need change.

When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world. I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation. When I found I couldn't change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn't change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family.

Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world.

BREATH

Air surrounds us all.

It may be clean and fresh in the country,
it may be polluted in big cities,
but its life giving presence is all around us.

Air is just a mixture of gases containing roughly 21% oxygen and 79% nitrogen.

Air is air but it becomes something entirely different when inhaled and exhaled by a living creature.

It becomes breath.

It literally changes in both chemical composition and potential.

Words are breath.

Words are simply air set in motion by a living soul.

All of us on earth have virtually the same 21/79% mixture.

But oh, how the words differ. All carried by the same air.

Hate or love spoken, same air.
Encouragement or discouragement spoken, same air.
Compliments or criticisms spoken, same air.
Curses or blessings spoken, same air.
Can do or can't do spoken, same air.
The beauty or misery of life spoken, same air.
Faith or doubt spoken, same air.
Laughter or sighs expressed, same air.

Same air, but different breath.

Air comes into us all with the same potential,
we change it,
we charge it,
we shape it,
we make it,
then we send it forth.

Changed.

Regardless of what you have been through,
no matter what your parents did,
no matter what is or isn't in your bank account,
no matter what hurts,

YOU have a decision to make about the next breath.

God not only breathed the breath of life into man and he became a living soul,

He gave us the choice of what to do with every breath.

He literally gave you the power to breathe life into people and situations, all with the power of your words.

He gave you the power of good and evil,
life and death,
with breath.

Take a deep breath

...and decide.

Pray for them

Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9

Dear Brothers and Sisters, in our fallen world, it is often deemed acceptable by some to tear people down verbally, physically, spiritually or even cyberlistically to get back at them if we feel hurt. Peter, remembering Jesus’ teaching to turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:39), encourages us to pay back wrongs by praying for the offenders. In God’s kingdom, revenge is an unacceptable behavior, as is insulting a person, no matter how indirectly it is done.

Rise above getting back at those who hurt you. Instead of reacting angrily to these people, pray for them.

He Is

He is the First and Last, the Beginning and the End! He is the keeper of Creation and the Creator of all! He is the Architect of the universe and The Manager of all times. He always was, He always is, and He always will be...Unmoved, Unchanged, Undefeated, and never Undone!

He was bruised and brought healing! He was pierced and eased pain! He was persecuted and brought freedom! He was dead and brought life! He is risen and brings power! He reigns and brings Peace! The world can't understand him, The armies can't defeat Him, The schools can't explain Him, and The leaders can't ignore Him, so they tried to but couldn't kill Him, The Pharisees couldn't confuse Him, and The people couldn't hold Him! The New Age can't replace Him, and Donahue can't explain Him away! He is light, love, longevity, and Lord. He is goodness, Kindness, Gentleness, and God. He is Holy, Righteous, mighty, powerful, and pure. His ways are right, His word is eternal, His will is unchanging, and His mind is on me.

He is my Redeemer, He is my Savior, He is my guide, and He is my peace! He is my Joy, He is my comfort, He is my Lord, and He rules my life! I serve Him because His bond is love, His burden is light, and His goal for me is abundant life. I follow Him because He is the wisdom of the wise, The power of the powerful, The ancient of days, the ruler of rulers, The leader of leaders, the overseer of the overcomers, and The sovereign Lord of all that was and is and is to come. And if that seems impressive to you, try this for size.

His goal is a relationship with ME! He will never leave me, Never forsake me, Never mislead me, Never forget me, Never overlook me, and Never cancel my appointment in His appointment book! When I fall, He lifts me up! When I fail, He forgives! When I am weak, He is strong! When I am lost, He is the way! When I am afraid, He is my courage! When I stumble, He steadies me! When I am hurt, He heals me! When I am broken, He mends me! When I am blind, He leads me! When I am hungry, He feeds me! When I face trials, He is with me! When I face persecution, He shields me! When I face problems, He comforts me! When I face loss, He provides for me! When I face Death, He carries me Home!

He is everything for everybody, everywhere, Every time, and every way. He is God, He is faithful. I am His, and He is mine! My Father in heaven can whip the father of this world. So, if you're wondering why I feel so secure, understand this...He said it and that settles it. God is in control, I am on His side, and that means all is well with my soul. Everyday is a blessing for GOD Is!

THUS SPEAKETH

It amazes me that a high percentage of Americans expect to go to heaven when they die. However, many of them hardly ever pray, read the Bible, or attend church. They admit that they live to please themselves instead of God. I often wonder why these people would want to go to heaven. It brings to mind Isaiah 55: 6 and 7 which says, “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”

If you think that scripture hits the bull’s-eye…

Take in verse 8 and imagine what God’s thoughts are pertaining to this dilemma.

Verse 8 say, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.”

There’s an engraving on the Cathedral of Lubeck, Germany which remind me of what I’d assume the Lord thus speaketh.

"Ye call Me Master and obey Me not,

Ye call Me Light and see Me not,

Ye call Me Way and walk not,

Ye call Me Life and desire Me not,

Ye call Me Wise and follow Me not,

Ye call Me Fair and love Me not,

Ye call Me Rich and ask Me not,

Ye call Me Eternal and seek Me not,

Ye call Me Gracious and trust Me not,

Ye call Me Noble and serve Me not,

Ye call Me Mighty and honor Me not,

Ye call Me Just and fear Me not;

If I condemn you, blame Me not.

Thus speaketh Christ our Lord unto us."

Is Jesus Enough?

"After they had eaten, Jesus asked Simon Peter, 'Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these other things?'" (John 21:15).

If Jesus was all you had, would Jesus be enough for you?

Many precious believers are in love with the things of the Lord, but they are not in love with the Lord Himself.

Many Christian workers and ministers are in love with the Lord's work. Almost without realizing it, the work of the Lord becomes more important than the Lord of the work.

There are prophets and teachers who hold words from God in higher esteem than the God Who speaks the words they attribute as being from Him. People seek these words and teachings. The more they receive, the more they want. Before one word is digested they are craving another. They are seeking "things" - words, prophecies, teachings, visions, dreams - but they are not seeking the Lord Himself.

Is Jesus enough?

When the saints gather together most of the activity is focused on "one another". This is important, but it is not the most important thing. Fellowship is good: but is Jesus enough? Gatherings are good: but is Jesus enough? Meetings are good: but is Jesus enough? Special speakers and special music are good: but is Jesus enough?

Even with praise and worship it is possible to sing "about" Jesus and not truly worship Jesus. With preaching and teaching it is possible to talk "about" Jesus and not truly meet Jesus in what is shared. In prayer it is possible to talk "about" our needs and never actually commune with Jesus Himself.

Among Christians I have discovered something. There is Jesus, and then there are all the things ABOUT Jesus that are NOT Jesus. Jesus Himself occupies only a small portion of what is said and done in Christian circles. Most of what is said and done is merely ABOUT Jesus, but it is NOT Jesus.

I have learned that stress, strife, disillusionment, dissatisfaction, bitterness, anger, hurt, misunderstanding, and confusion comes from everything said and done by religious people ABOUT the Lord, and IN THE NAME of the Lord, that does not, in fact, have anything to do with Jesus Himself.

How much of your focus is directed to the things of God, and not to God Himself? How much of your discussion centers on things about Jesus, and not Jesus Himself?

Just look around. This brother is focused on end-time events, and that sister is devoted to inner healing. This brother is primarily concerned with prophetic things, while another sister is keenly interested in spiritual warfare. That brother is deeply involved with theological discussions, while that sister is in love with Christian music. One movement emphasizes this particular thing, and another group stands for another thing.

There may be diversities of gifts and callings. There may be various and sundry things to be involved with. There may be many topics to study and discuss. Many things compete for our time, attention, affection, energy, and money.

But there is only one Lord Jesus.

Just as some people cannot see the forest for the trees, I believe most sinners cannot see Jesus for the Christians. And I believe most Christians cannot see Jesus for the "church".

Is Jesus enough?

Whenever I am ministering to pastors, whatever they think their calling is, I always have them turn to Mark 3:14:

"And he ordained twelve, that they should BE WITH HIM, and that He might send them forth to preach."

You are called to be with Jesus. That is your calling. That is the primary thing, the highest ministry. Going forth to preach or do anything else is of secondary importance. We should be with Jesus; after that, He might send us forth to preach. But before Jesus said, "Go into all the world" He said, "Be with Me."

The call of the Lord is not more important than the Lord of the call. The work of the Lord must not replace the Lord of the work. No amount of ministering FOR the Lord will make up for a lack of ministering TO the Lord. And knowing the Word of God does not necessarily mean that we know the God of the Word.

Everyone wants to go and do something for God, but few people are willing to stay and do "nothing" for Him.

Jesus asked Peter, "Am I enough for You? Do you love Me more than everything else? Do you love Me more than you love the things about Me?"

A few weeks later, when Peter stood with John before the religious rulers to explain the healing of a man who had never walked, "...they marveled; and they took knowledge of [Peter and John], that THEY HAD BEEN WITH JESUS" (Acts 4:13b).

If we will be with Jesus, then Jesus will be with us.

The reason the New Testament church had power was not because they spoke in tongues, or held meetings in their living rooms, or had a certain system for planting churches. The secret was they had been with Jesus.

But some Christians are more in love with methods and ministries than they are in love with the Man.

The prophets and teachers in the church of Antioch were gathered together: not to have a house church conference, not to begin a new ministry, not to discuss the latest prophetic word or the newest teaching, not to exchange ideas on how to grow the church, not to fellowship, not to share a meal, not to minister to one another. But "as they ministered TO THE LORD, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said..." (Acts 13:2a).

Paul and his fellow workers had many souls to save, many disciples to make, many churches to plant, many places to visit, many messages to deliver, many letters to write. There were many needs to be met, many doors of opportunity before them.

But the work was suspended. Activity ceased. Ministry came to a standstill. Fellowship and food were forgotten. The prophets were there, but the prophets did not prophesy. The teachers were there, but the teachers did not teach.

Instead, they ministered to the Lord. The focus shifted from horizontal to vertical. The emphasis was directed away from man and man's needs, and onto the Lord and His Need. They were busy being with Jesus. They were at His feet. So when the Holy Ghost finally spoke, they were ready to go forth. Thus began the first missionary journey of Paul.

When apostles love church planting and mission work more than Jesus, then they are saying that Jesus is not enough.

When prophets love their prophecies, dreams, and visions more than they love Jesus, then they are saying that Jesus is not enough.

When evangelists love traveling, preaching, and holding meetings more than they love Jesus, then they are saying that Jesus is not enough.

When pastors love their church services and building programs more than they love Jesus, then they are saying that Jesus is not enough.

When teachers love their teachings more than they love Jesus, then they are saying that Jesus is not enough.

When preachers love their preaching more than they love Jesus, then they are saying that Jesus is not enough.

When ministers love their ministry more than they love Jesus, then they are saying that Jesus is not enough.

When musicians love their music more than they love Jesus, then they are saying that Jesus is not enough.

When writers love their writings more than they love Jesus, then they are saying that Jesus is not enough.

And when the simplest disciples grow tired of "just" being with Jesus, and begin to long for something bigger, something better, something greater, something more powerful, something other than what they have in Jesus already, then they are saying that Jesus is not enough.

If Jesus was all you had, would Jesus be enough for you? Or do you have to have all the "trappings" of Christianity, all the bells and whistles, all the toys and trinkets?

Make no mistake: there is no life in the things that are ABOUT Jesus. There is life only in Jesus Himself.

May I speak candidly? If you are dissatisfied and disappointed with your Christian walk today, it is only because of one thing: Jesus is not enough for you. Somewhere along the line, something else became more important than Jesus. Maybe you have become focused on the things ABOUT Jesus that are NOT Jesus.

There is only one solution. You do not need more of the Lord, because He has already given Himself completely to you already. You just need less of everything else.

Remember.

Remember what it was like to hear His Voice, to be so filled with passion and love for Him, that you wanted nothing more than to sit at His feet, and hear His Word.

Remember when you were so infatuated with Him that you did not want to do anything else.

Remember what it was like to just be with Jesus.

Go back to when Jesus first called you to be with Him.

Go back to the time when all you had was Him.

Go back to the time before you were planting churches, speaking prophetic words, preaching to the unsaved, pastoring the congregation, teaching the people, or leading worship.

Go back to the time when there was no work, no ministry, no vision, no special calling - except Jesus calling you to be with Him.

Remember when you said, "He's all I need!"

So what happened?

I pray the Lord will draw us after Himself and make us thoroughly sick and tired of things - especially the things that are ABOUT Him, but are NOT Him.

God so loved the world that He gave His Only Son, Jesus.

Well... is Jesus enough?

1. God the Creator. “Creator God, I praise You because ‘You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you’” (Neh. 9:6).

2. The Only God. “God, I praise You because You are ‘the LORD, and there is no other; apart from [You] there is no God’” (Is. 45:5).

3. The Almighty God. “‘O LORD, God Almighty, who is like You?You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you’” (Ps. 89:8).

27. The Lifter of My Head. “Father God, I praise You because ‘you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head’ when I am weary or despised” (Ps. 3:3).

28. God of Light. “I praise You, Lord, because You are ‘my light and my salvation’ (Ps. 27:1), and because You know ‘what lies in darkness, and light dwells with [You]’” (Dan. 2:22).

29. God of Joy. “I give You praise, O LORD, because ‘you have granted [me] eternal blessings and made [me] glad with the joy of your presence’” (Ps. 21:6).

30. The God Who Answers Prayer. “I praise and honor You, Father, because You are a God who loves to answer prayer and who begins to answer even before I pray” (Is. 65:24).

31. The God of All the Earth. “I praise and adore You, Lord, as ‘the Holy One of Israel . . . [my] Redeemer . . . the God of all the earth’” (Is. 54:5).

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, this “program of praise” that has proven wonderfully helpful. I know it will opened a door for you, and your praises to God will flow freely from your heart and lips during prayer. Focus on one attribute of our awesome God and Father each day, using the Scripture-based sentences as “praise starters.” At the end of each month, start the list over, combining traits when the month is shorter than 31 days.

STILL HE WALKED

He could hear the crowds screaming "crucify" "crucify"...
He could hear the hatred in their voices,
These were his chosen people.
He loved them,
And they were going to crucify him.
He was beaten, bleeding and weakened... his heart was broken,

But still He walked.

He could see the crowd as he came from the palace.
He knew each of the faces so well.
He had created them.
He knew every smile, laugh, and shed tear,
But now they were contorted with rage and anger...his heart broke,

But still He walked.

Was he scared?
You and I would have been
So his humanness would have mandated that he was.
He felt alone.
His disciples had left, denied, and even betrayed him.
He searched the crowd for a loving face and he saw very few.
Then he turned his eyes to the only one that mattered
And he knew that he would never be alone.
He looked back at the crowd, at the people who were spitting
At him, throwing rocks at him and mocking him and he knew
That because of him, they would never be alone.

So for them, He walked.

The sounds of the hammer striking the spikes echoed through
The crowd. The sounds of his cries echoed even louder,
The cheers of the crowd, as his hands and feet
Were nailed to the cross, intensified with each blow.
Loudest of all was the still small voice inside his
Heart that whispered "I am with you, my son",
And God's heart broke.

He had let his son walk.

Jesus could have asked God to end his suffering,
But instead he asked God to forgive.
Not to forgive him, but to forgive the ones who were persecuting him.
As he hung on that cross, dying an unimaginable death,
He looked out and saw, not only the faces in the crowd,
But also, the face of every person yet to be,
And his heart filled with love.
As his body was dying, his heart was alive.
Alive with the limitless, unconditional love he feels for each of us.

That is why He walked.

When I forget how much My God loves me,
I remember his walk.

When I wonder if I can be forgiven,
I remember his walk.

When I'm reminded of how to live like Christ,
I think of his walk.

And to show him how much I love him,
I wake up each morning, turn my eyes to him,

And I walk.
